How Audio Books Can Help Your Children at School!

What do exams mean? In one word! Stress!

Sometimes I wonder how on earth I managed it. Seems a long, long time ago now - 20 years to be precise - but how did I manage to study for 10 different subjects concurrently and still pass the exams?

I'm always telling my staff about priority, organisation and time management and on reflection it's fair to ask if somehow over the last 20 years my own ability to maximise my time efficiently has diminished. Back then, it seemed straightforward. The teacher told you what you had to learn. You had a few textbooks. You had practical classes for science and technology and you sat in what was known as a 'language lab' in an effort to master the French or German language.

In 1986, there was no such thing as the internet. If you wanted to know anything, it was simple. You had to find out about it by reading about it. If you were lucky, your local library might have stocked a few worn out audio cassettes on the subject you were interested in but things were so badly catalogued you could waste so much time in looking.

This is 2007! And we have more information than we know what to do with. Our children still follow similar curriculums as we did but they have the advantage and benefits of technology to help their cause.

Audio books have been around a while now and for many are still seen simply as a medium for bringing information and enjoyment for those with visual impairments. When I mention audio books to my 30 something friends they all seem to misunderstand their value. Times have changed as they always do. And we are no longer talking about recording books no one wants to read onto CD in the vain hope someone might want to listen.

That's right! There are 1000s of fantastic audio book titles across a range of interesting categories easily and cheaply available now! Most PCs come with CD/DVD burning software and many are adept at transferring files to their MP3 players.
